Updated Innovation Plan

In 5314, a lot of work has gone into looking back at our innovation plan and researching information as to why plans succeed and fail.

First we looked at creating a “Call to Action” video and get people on board with our idea(s) to why other plans fail and why ours would be successful. Check out my video below:

In my video I look at what some of the reasons why plans fall short and what I found is that they lack vision, guidance and goal setting. Some people believe that technology is the savior in the classroom and it will lead to great change, but after reading several articles like the iPad article, I understood that the iPads didn’t have a clear “Why”, they were just thrown in the classroom and expected to help students learn. In my video, I answer why I believe the ePortfolio will work and why it will be successful.

Next we had to dig back into the literature I did back in 5305 and find new references to help change my literature review. I found a lot of helpful information that really opened my eyes to other problems that the ePortfolio could have and how they were able to get over those barriers. Some other things that popped up is having to have more definite research, how to get over those technological barriers and fears of the ePortfolio on campus, but with all the previous work we’ve done in the DLL program, I feel I’m making a lot of progress.

Lastly we were to write a reflection on all that we’ve worked on in this class and all that we’ve learned. Then we were to update our innovation plan, which I must say although there isn’t much changed, I can see what all needs to be worked on or modified. I was extremely terrified at the thought of doing another literature review, but I made sure to be on top of it this time and not let it get piled on. Even with the call to action video, I started working on it week one, using Powtoons.

Once it was time to start working on everything, I took it one day at a time and constantly modified/adjusted from the readings and classroom discussions. Even for the literature review, my biggest fear was having enough new references but I realized that I had more than enough, it just came down to organizing it all the proper way. Overall, this course has given me more insight on my innovation plan and how I can constantly be working to improve it.
